#DefendTheLine -- Stand With Anthropic Against Government Surveillance Through AI
Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, refused to let Claude be used for mass domestic surveillance or fully autonomous weapons. For holding those two red lines, Defense Secretary Hegseth gave Anthropic until February 27, 2026 to comply or face contract termination, a supply chain risk blacklist, and the Defense Production Act.
Anthropic is not anti-military -- they hold a $200M DOD contract. But they drew a line: your conversations with AI are not a government resource.
When you talk to AI, you think out loud. You brainstorm. You ask the question before you know if its a real question. That is not a conversation -- that is your thought process, externalized. No surveillance system in history has had access to that.
We are demanding:
1. Congress establish Fourth Amendment protections for AI conversations
2. Anthropic hold the line
3. Every AI company that agreed to unrestricted government access reconsider
4. Every person who uses AI sign this and make it impossible to ignore
No court has ever ruled that AI conversations have Fourth Amendment protection. The legal framework governing your AI data was written in 1986 -- before the internet existed.
If Anthropic falls, every AI company learns the lesson: say yes or get destroyed. And your most private thoughts become government property.
